Virajinee N.D. Bulathsinhalage

Virajinee Nayanathara Don Bulathsinhalage is a PhD student currently undertaking research studies at the University of Adelaide under the supervision of Associate Professor Cassandra Collins, Professor Eileen Scott and Professor Diane Mather. Her PhD research work focuses on bacterial spot of almond: plant-pathogen interactions and host resistance. She has completed her B.Sc. degree in Agricultural Technology and Management and M.Sc. degree in Molecular and Applied Microbiology at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Starting from her undergraduate times she has been involved in a few research studies focusing on the use of beneficial bacteria for controlling plant pathogens and improving plant health, integrated pest management, safe use of pesticides, assessing the pathogenicity and cross-infection abilities of fungal pathogens, and plant breeding. She has published and presented many of these works at different scientific forums. Her research interests are plant genetics and disease resistance breeding, molecular and applied microbiology and plant pathology.
