Dharushana Thanabalasingam

Dr. Dharushana Thanabalasingam is a research scientist within the Plant Pathology team at Agriculture Victoria Research (AVR) working primarily with pulse crops. She is responsible for the delivery of significant parts of the disease surveillance and pulse disease screening programs from mid 2023. As part of the surveillance program, she has assessed foliar and soil-borne diseases of faba bean and lentil crops in Victorian regions. Prior to joining AVR, Dharushana has completed her doctoral degree at the University of Tasmania. As part of her PhD, she had developed molecular markers to study the genetic variation of poppy systemic downy mildew pathogen in Tasmanian population. She is also a graduate chemist with a masters in natural products chemistry. She has published four scientific papers. Dr. Dharushana is interested in multidisciplinary research involving plant pathology, molecular biology, and natural products chemistry and open for any interesting opportunities and collaborations.
