Monique Sakalidis
I have over 20 years of experience in the identification, characterization, and risk assessment of exotic invasive and emerging native fungal and oomycete pathogens in Australia, South Africa, Canada and the US. I have expertise in phylogenetic and population genetic analysis. My research program has predominately focused on the identification, characterization and risk that abiotic and biotic factors pose to plant hosts. With a focus on emerging native pathogens and invasive introduced pathogens. In my current role as a Research Scientist in Plant Biosecurity I bring together information from multiple sources to develop and promote biosecurity preparedness for a range of WA industries and environments. I seek to understand how we can use science based decision-making and innovative cutting-edge tools to inform preparedness and response planning and activities.
